“Be careful about reading health books. Some fine day you'll die of a misprint.” —Markus Herz
Welcome to Issue 8!
Hello and welcome to It’s Kismet, a weekly curated list of art, holistic health content, and thoughts I felt were worth sharing with more people.
This week I am welcoming the beautiful sounds and smells of spring with my family and friends because it is Nowruz (Persian New Year). Nowruz, which translates to ‘New Day,’ is celebrated as the first day of spring where we welcome new life and the end of winter. People come together in peace, love, family, and solidarity across generations, religions and cultures to be together. Around the world, 300 million people celebrate Nowruz!
I think it’s important for people to come into harmony with nature and recognize their link with nature’s seasonal cycles. Every year around this time, I spend some time reflecting on this physical, mental and spiritual harmony we have. We are the stuff of nature…nature effects us everyday, till one day we return to it. That’s why forest bathing is good for your mental health and barefoot walking on the beach feels very grounding.
For this week, spend some time thinking about how you connect with nature. If you like, try this tree meditation (make sure to scroll down the page to listen to it), go bath in the forest, visit the beach, or wake up early just to listen to the bird chirp. I promise you’ll feel closer to all the beauty around you. – Lili

💭 Food for Thought
Daylight Savings and Health → Good, bad, we don’t know?
“We all have body clocks, and they align to the sun. And studies have shown that even after switching to daylight saving time, our hormones stay with the sun. And so we end up living our social life by a clock time, when we go to work and school, but our body's clock is on that sun times still. And so that leads to at least about an hour of misalignment.”
